The piano helps you...
The piano holds a special place among instruments for several reasons. Its wide range allows for dynamic expression, from delicate melodies to thunderous chords. The piano's versatility spans across genres, making it suitable for classical, jazz, and contemporary music. Its tactile nature connects players directly to the instrument, creating a unique and intimate musical experience.
The organ shares many similarities to the piano but can boast multiple keyboards (and even one for the feet!) Naturally, there are some differences. While the piano is a string/percussion instrument, the organ is a wind instrument so it requires modified technique applications. It holds a special place in sacred music by adding decorum and splendor to Church celebrations. It reflects the greatness of God and the community in His Church. The organ invites people to sing the text and lift their hearts, elevating their souls in devotion and opening them to receive the fruits of grace.
The piano is the typical beginning instrument because it’s more readily available for families. If an interest in the organ arises, it is incorporated into the lessons. Ideally, organ lessons will take place at the church where the student hopes to play, but access to any organ is acceptable and occasionally working on an electric piano with a decent organ sound setting is also sufficient.
